Tuljapur Bhavani Temple
As per the Legend, After the death of Sage Kadarbh, his wife Anubuthi performed strict penance for the Goddess Bhavani to take care of her child on the banks of River Mandakini. The demon Kurkur tried hard to interrupt Tapasya, Goddess Bhavani killed the demon and rescued Anubuthi. It is believed that Goddess Bhavani self-manifested here.
Viswakarma built the temple for the deity at Yamunachala on Lord Brahma's order. Lord Brahma decided to create Holy Tirtha's at this temple and invited Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, who obeyed the command. Various other Tirtha's from the Himalayas, Vindhyas, Sahayadris, Trikut and Malay mountains flocked together. There was a tumultuous assemblage of all these and on account of the furore created by them Brahma named it 'Kallola Tirth'. It is believed that taking a holy dip in this Tirth will be relieved from sins. One must take bath in this Tirtha before entering the temple. As per Tulaja Mahatyam, the devotee will also be relieved from various diseases on taking a holy dip.
