Keesaragutta Hyderabad Timings, History
Earlier, Keesaragutta was called by Kesaragiri. As per the folklore, Lord Rama thought of installing Siva on top of this hill to get rid of Brahma Hatya (Sin of killing the demon King Ravana, a Brahmin). He instructed Hanuman to bring Siva Linga from Varanasi. As the auspicious time was approaching Sri Rama prayed Lord Siva who self-manifested here in Linga form. Hanuman prayed Lord Siva and brought 101 Siva Linga. Hanuman disappointed on seeing the installed Linga and threw 101 Linga over the hill in disappointment. Even today,  one can see the Linga's spreading across the hill.  Rama named the hill the hill as Kesaragiri after Hanuman. As the time passes by Kesaragiri turned into Keesaragutta. Hanuman after realising his mistake installed one Linga to the left of the main deity.

It is believed that those who are suffering Chicken Pox, Small Pox will be relieved on sprinkling holy water. This Abhishekam Theertham (holy water) will be sprinkled after Pooja.
It is believed that Goddess Sakthi safeguards the devotees who believe her truly. Pushpa Yagotsavam (Flower festival) will be celebrated during the month of Mar. Rathotsavam (Car festival) will be celebrated in Chitirai month.
Angapradakshinam will be performed daily at this temple. It is believed that King Dasaratha worshipped Mariamman at Samayapuram.
Devotees used to reach temple a day in advance and sleep at the temple premises.
The uniqueness of this temple is that Goddess Mariamman will go on fast for 28 days from the last Sunday during Masi month. On these special days, Nivedana will not be performed only fruits and flour will be offered during this time. On the last day, Pushpa Yagotsavam will be performed with a variety of flowers and this festival called by Poo Choridal.

As per the folklore, Goddess Parvati made Siva Linga out of the River Cauvery water and installed under Venn Naaval tree in the Jambu forest. Goddess Parvati performed strict penance and performed strict penance. Impressed Lord Siva appeared before her and did Upadesa (Siva Gnana). The Linga here called by Appu Lingam. Goddess Parvati received the Gyan facing East while Lord Siva offered Gyan facing West. Hence the Temple in Thiruvanaikoil was facing West.
Goddes Parvati here called by Akhilandeswari while Lord Siva by Jambukeshwara. The temple priest performs Pooja for the Lord Siva in a female attire. Thiru Kalyanam will not be performed here as Goddess appeared here in the form of a student while Lord Siva as Guru.

As per the legend, Goddess self-manifested here on Keeladri during Krutya Yuga, where Keela is a Yaksha who did penance for Goddess Durga. Impressed Durga Devi resided on Keela who transformed into a hill near River Krishna. Goddess manifested on Keeladri after killing the demon Mahisasura. It is said that Indra (God of Heaven) did penance here for Goddess Durga. Hence the name, Indra Keeladri.
 Lord Brahma performed Sataswamedha Yajna on Indrakeeladri for which Lord Siva self-manifested here in Jyotirlinga form. Lord Siva here called by Mallikarjuna Swamy. From the Puranas, it is known that Lord Brahma installed Siva Linga and worshipped with Jasmine flowers. Hence the name Mallikarjuna Swamy.
Arjuna, Pandava's brother did penance here for Lord Siva seeking Pasupatha Astra. Jagadguru Adi Sankaracharya installed Sri Chakra in this temple.

As per the folklore, Lord Subramanya imprisoned Lord Brahma for knowing the meaning for Pranava Mantra "Om". Later on request of Lord Siva, he left Brahma and explained the meaning of Om to Lord Siva. To get rid of the sin, Lord Subramanya took the form of a serpent and started residing in an isolated well. The well was guarded by several other serpents to protect Lord from Sun and Rain. The place where Serpent guarded Lord Subramanya is Peralassery.
Goddess Parvati requested Lord Siva to give the original form for her son. Lord Siva advised her to perform Shasti Vrat for 18 weeks which will get the actual form.

Koncheswar Temple

Koncheswar Temple 

The temple is a square building, the dimension of which on the outside is 27 ft 6 inches square with a chamber inside 11 feet square. The entrance is to the East. The height is nearly 70 ft. It has two storeys. The lower storey is vaulter in the Hindu fashion, that is it has two arched roofs meeting in a ridge. The upper storey is formed by bricks overlapping on all the four sides till they meet at a point. The doorway is almost as high as the room inside. Konch served as the model for the Mahabodhi Temple. There is a Linga of Koncheswar Mahadeva inside the temple.
In Hiuen Tsang's description, this temple is stated to have been built by a Brahman. The might have constructed during 1st and 6th Century AD. To the east of the temple, there is a large sheet of water with brick-covered compounds on all sides. In the west, there is a ruined temple, 12 feet 3 inches square inside, and at the north-western corner, there is second ruined temple only 7 ft 8 inches square inside, with walls 2 ft 9.5 inches thick. The temple is daily visited by a large number of local devotees. Special Poojas will be performed on a Shivaratri day and other auspicious days to propitiate Lord Siva when large crowds visit the temple.

As per the Legend, Lord Siva was given his bow here, known as Ajgaivi, and so the place came to known as Ajgaivinath. The ancient name of the place was Jahangira which was derived from the name Jahnu Muni. Jahangira is derived from the name of Jahnu giri (the hill of Jahnu).
Traditionally Sultanganj formed a part of the great Anga state. In the day of the Mahabarata, Karna, the elder brother of Pandavas ruled in Anga. At present Champanagar, the site of Karna's Castle is well known as Karnagarh.
Sultanganj was famous during the rule of Pala and Sena Kings from 730 AD to 1199 AD. It is said that Dharmapala, the first King of Pala dynasty had laid the foundation of the Vikramshila University at Sultanganj.
The Murli Hill of Sultanganj situated just on the bank of the Ganga, from where one has to take the boat to visit Ajgaivinath Temple at mid-Ganga.

Mandar Hill is about 700 ft high and is 30 miles from the Bhagalpur Town. It was mentioned in Skanda Purana, that this Hill was used as the churning stick to Churn Kshir Sagar. 
As per the Legend, Titiksha, the second son of Mahanamas, the 7th in descent from Anu, has founded the Kingdom Anava and named it after it's ancestors. The Asura King Bali had five sons from his wife Sudeshna, namely, Anga, Vanga, Kalinga, Pundra and Sumha. The Anava Kingdom was expanded under the demon King and five kingdoms were carved out of it and named after his five sons. Separated from Magadha by the river Champa. 
The relics on Mandar Hill indicated a confluence of two religions Hinduism and Jainism. It is believed that King in Karnataka, Chola by name took bath in the holy tank Papaharini and relieved from leprosy disease on Makar Sankranti day. On Makar Sankranti day, thousands of devotees take bath in this holy tank from 4:00 am - 12:00 pm.

Temple is dedicated to Lord Siva. Lord Siva here called by Mahabaleshwar. As per the Legend, Demon King Ravana did penance for Lord Siva and got Atma Linga to fulfil his mother's request. Sun was setting while on his way to Lanka. Atma Linga not supposed to keep on the Earth, so Ravana handed over the Linga to a cowherd (Lord Ganesh disguised himself in this form). Cowherd boy after 3 reminders kept the Linga on the Earth. Ravana tried hard to pull Atma Linga, the extensive force resulted in throwing the coverings of the Linga to different places namely, Dhareshwar, Gunavanteshwara, Mrudeshwar and Shejjeshwar temples. The main Linga remained at Mahabaleshwar which resembles Cow's ear. Hence the name Gokarna. The Ejjeshwara, Gunavanteshwara, Murudeshwara, Dhareshwara and Mahabaleshwara temples are called Pancha Maha Kshetras.

As per the folklore,  Shinganapur was flooded with heavy rains. An Idol reached Shinganapur along with the flood waters. The Idol struck to a berry tree. When the normal life restored, the cowherds reached this place for grazing their cattle. Cowherds noticed an Idol between struct between the branches and poked the idol with their sticks. Surprisingly, blood started oozing out of the Idol. Cowherds tried hard to pull the idol but all their efforts went vain and left the idol at the same place. Lord Shani Dev appeared in the dreams of a cowherd and instructed them with the steps to pull the idol. Lord Shani Dev instructed that Idol can only be pulled his maternal uncle and nephew. The devotees after pulling the Idol tried to install at their own place but did not work. After many trails, the Idol was installed successfully at the present open place. The present form of the temple was built by Sri Jawahar Mal, who was blessed with Son on praying for Shani Dev.

This temple stands 1st in the row of 12 Jyotirlinga Temples. As per the Legend, Chandra ( Moon God) married 27 daughters for Daksha Prajapati. Among 27 wives, Chandra used to spend much of his time with Rohini. The other wives complained to their father about Chandra's approach. Daksha requested Chandra to treat equally. Chandra denied his father-in-law's requested and continued the same. Daksha who got angry cursed Chandra to suffer from Kshaya. Chandra did penance for Lord Siva, who freed him partially from the curse. Hence, the reason for the full moon and no moon days.
Lord Chandra installed Siva Linga and built the Golden Temple. Hence the name Somnatheswar.

As per the Legend, Lord Krishna killed the demon Kamsa (his maternal uncle) in the wrestling area and made Ugrasena (his Maternal Grandfather) as the king of Mathura. Knowing Kamsa's death, his father-in-law, demon Jarasandha started attacking Mathura along with this friend Kalyavana. They together invaded on Mathura 17 times. Keeping the safety of their citizens, Lord Krishna then decided to move the capital from Mathura to Dwarka.
Lord Krishna invited Viswakarma (divine architect) to build the capital on the coast of Saurashtra. Viswakarma then built the Golden Capital City which was gifted by Samurdadeva. It is said that the beautiful Dwarka city was built on 12 Yojanas.

As soon as Lord Krishna end his Avatar, Yadavas started quarrelling among themselves and lost the control. Balarama Deva too left his Avatar on seeing this and no heads to take care. Sea raised high and Submerged the Golden city Dwarka.

As per the folklore, Prajapati Daksha's daughters married Lord Siva against her father's wish. Daksha doesn't have a good relationship with his son-in-law Lord Siva. Daksha decided to insult his son-in-law in which he decided to perform Yagna in a grand. He had invited all the gods and goddesses, excluding Lord Siva from the invitation list.
Sati who came to know about this Yagna thought of educating her father as the Yagna will not be fruitful without Siva. Daksha insulted Sati before the guests. Sati who was offended by the scoldings of her father self-immolated in the Yogagni. On knowing this Siva raised her and danced the dance of destruction. Veerabhadra who took birth from Siva's anger reached Yagna along with Kali and other Siva Ganas destroyed to Yajna and killed Daksha.
Lord Siva did Pralaya Thandavam after collecting Sati's body. To stop the destruction of the universe, Vishnu sent his disc to break the corpse of Sati body into pieces. The chakra broke the corpse into 18 pieces, which fell across the Indian subcontinent. These 18 places were called by Sakthi Peethas. Ujjain is the place where elbow from Sati's body fallen here.

Temple is located on the banks of River Shipra. As per the Legend, Ujjain was once called by Avanti which as named by Lord Siva after his ardent devotee, Keerthi Veeryarjuna Son Avanti. It is said that Sage Vasishta used the water from this holy river Shipra for Kanyadhan, hence the river got more holiness. This temple is one among the 12 Jyotirlingas across the India.
As per the folklore, The priest Vridhi and his sons used to offer prayers for Siva Linga. There was demon used to live on the mountain Ratnamala which is next to this place. The demon who got the boon from Lord Brahma used to trouble the people.Once the demon attacked the priest and his sons, who used to worship Lord Siva regularly. Lord Siva took the form of Mahakaleshwar and killed the demon and self-manifested on request of the devotees.
