Thirukadaiyur temple history

As per the Legend, Lord Siva blessed long life for Markandeya as this place. Markandeya was relieved from the death rope of Yama. One can see the marks of the death rope on Siva Linga during Nijaroopa Darshan.
Another interesting folklore associated with this temple, Abirami Bhattar an ardent of Goddess Parvati while in deep meditation answered wrongly to the King Sarfoji as full moon day while it is No moon day. The King who got angered with irrelevant answer and order to behead Abirami Bhattar if Moon doesn't appear in the sky on the same day. Abirami Bhattar was placed on a cradle with fire camp on the below and started cutting one thread (balancing cradle) each time when he finishes the hymn on Goddess Abirami. At the end of the 79th hymn, Goddess appeared before him and brought the moonlight by throwing her earring. The King pleaded Bhattar for his ignorance and honoured him. The main deity is called by Amruthakadeswarar and the Goddess Parvati here called by Abirami

Pedakakani temple History

Pedakakani temple History

As per the Legend, It happened that Sage Bharadwaja reached this place as part of his spiritual journey. He made Sankalp in performing Yajna at this place for which he had invited other Sages. The Yajna went in a grand and at the end of the Yajna, they have noticed that a Crow started eating "Havissu" which was meant for Yajna Karthas. Sage Bharadwaja was disappointed and tried to stop the Crow from eating. The Crow then replied that he was called by Kakasura who got the boon from Lord Brahma to have Havissu. He then said that he was cursed by a Sage, so only he attained Crow form. Crow then asked Sage to perform Abhishek with water from Holy rivers and Panchamrutha so that it will be relieved from the curse and Sage will be double benefited. As requested, Sage then performed Abhishek which restored the actual form for the demon and also performed Abhishek for Lord Siva with Jasmine flowers. Hence, the deity called by Mallikarjuna Swamy.

Trimbakeshwar temple Nashik

Trimbakeshwar temple Nashik

As per the Legend, Lord Siva came to this place because of a curse from Lord Brahma. During Lingodbhava, Lord Brahma in the form Swan went up into the space to discover the head part and Lord Vishnu in the form of boar dug the earth to find the tail part of the Cosmic flame. Years passed by but neither was able to go anywhere near the objective. Brahma lost his patience and decided to play a trick upon Vishnu. He went back and reported that he had at last discovered Siva's head. He cited Ketaki tree and Cow as the witnesses. Angered Siva cursed Brahma that he would not be worshipped by anybody thenceforth. The creator was indignant and gave a counter-curse that Siva would be hurled down to the Earth and would stay there in the form of a mountain. This mountain is none other than Brahmagiri and is also called by Tryambak which means three-eyed Giri. After the initial wave of anger had passed a reconciliation took place and Siva associated the name of Brahma.

The Devas and the Rishis gathered around the Lord and there ensued an unending hymn of praise and prayer. Pedhe Parashurama Temple

Pedhe Parashurama Temple

After Mahabharat, there are practically no occasions to come across Parashurama. The great warrior is variously mentioned to be living on the Mahendra mountain, the Sahyagiri and the Shurparak Nagar. The story goes that the region west of the Sahyadris was under the regime of Sea and he was most unwilling to allow any intruder to set his foot on his kingdom. In the best traditions of the warrior monarchs, he challenged Parashurama, who not the least deterred from his opposition immediately drew his bow and arrows. Not more than half a dozen deliveries from the deadly weapon were enough to convince the sea that resistance was hopeless and he agreed to permit Parashurama and his followers to settle in his territory. The sea accordingly receded several miles and land became inhabitable, though it must be said by no means hospitable.
As per the legends, that he retired from the active life of the northern plains and withdrew to the western coast to encourage and help the habitation of, presumably the Aryan tribes along that region. In Malabar, even a 'Shaka' known after Parashurama is still in use. The most important shrine dedicated to him is at Pedhe near Chiplun in the Ratnagiri district.

The first son, Soma, was an Avtar of Brahma, the second Datta that of Vishnu and the third Durvasa that of Siva. Dattatreya performed strict penance for the attainment of 'True knowledge'. He performed penance for hundreds of years on the banks of River Gomati and acquired Satya Gnyana.

Tuljapur Bhavani Temple

Tuljapur Bhavani Temple

As per the Legend, After the death of Sage Kadarbh, his wife Anubuthi performed strict penance for the Goddess Bhavani to take care of her child on the banks of River Mandakini. The demon Kurkur tried hard to interrupt Tapasya, Goddess Bhavani killed the demon and rescued Anubuthi. It is believed that Goddess Bhavani self-manifested here.

Viswakarma built the temple for the deity at Yamunachala on Lord Brahma's order. Lord Brahma decided to create Holy Tirtha's at this temple and invited Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, who obeyed the command. Various other Tirtha's from the Himalayas, Vindhyas, Sahayadris, Trikut and Malay mountains flocked together. There was a tumultuous assemblage of all these and on account of the furore created by them Brahma named it 'Kallola Tirth'. It is believed that taking a holy dip in this Tirth will be relieved from sins. One must take bath in this Tirtha before entering the temple. Virinjipuram temple Vellore

Virinjipuram temple Vellore

As per the folklore, Lingodbhava is attached with this temple. Lord Siva once emerged as a cosmic pillar and challenged Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma to find the begin and the end. Lord Vishnu in the form of a boar dug deep into the Earth and told Siva that he could not make it. Lord Brahma in the form a swan and set out to reach the top. Brahma with the support of Mogili Flower and Cow told Siva that he had reached the top. Angered by the false claim, Lord Siva cursed Brahma that there will not be any idols for him in the Earth.
To get rid of this sin, Brahma took the birth as Brahmin and called by Siva Sharma, took the responsibilities after his father's death.
Siva Sharma offered prayers for Swarna Ganapathi who then approached Lord Siva to perform Abhishek. As he was small, he was not able to touch the head portion of Siva Linga. Lord Siva bent down to help Siva Sharma in performing Abhishek. Hence the deity in this temple is found siding.  Lord Siva is called by Marga Bandhu Eswar which means "One who guide us in the right way".
