Thiruvenkadu Temple, Swetharanyeswara Swamy resides here with His Consort Brahma Vidyambal.
Swetharanya means White forest. This temple is famous for Bhudhan Shanthi. Taking holy dip at Chandra Theertham, which is at the temple entrance and worshiping Lord Siva will relieve one from Bhudhan Dosha. Wednesday is the best day for Bhudhan Pooja.
From the inscriptions written on the temple walls, it is known that this temple recieved huge contributions from the Kings Aditya Chola and Rajaraja Chola.
