As per the folklore, An ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara used to visit Tirupati once in a year. It happened once, that he was not able to travel to Tirupati. He prayed to Lord Venkateswara for his inability. Lord Venkateswara appeared in his dream and revealed his whereabouts.

Next day, the devotee went inside the forest as instructed by the Lord. He started digging anthill in search of the Idol. The Crowbar struck an idol and blood oozing out of an anthill. The poured milk on the anthill as advised by the voice from the Sky. The devotee unearthed the Idol of Lord Venkateswara along with Sridevi and Bhudevi. This is Ekasila Idol, where all the deities present in a rock.

Chilkur Balaji Temple Pradkshinam

  1. Devotees used to perform 11 Pradakshinam by chanting their wish
  2. The devotee has to perform 108 Pradakshinam when their wish is fulfilled.

This Pradakshinam was in place from 1982 -83. The temple main priest Gopalakrishna Swamy performed Pradaskhinam when the borewell is drilling. Water came out of the Earth when he completes 11 Pradakshinam.

This temple is dedicated to Lord Siva and Goddess Parvathi. It was built by Nolamba rulers followed by Rashtrakuta kings. This temple was built in the 9th Century around 810 AD.
Gangas, Cholas, Hoyasala Kings and Vijayanagara Kings contributed in renovating this temple.
Vasantha Mantapa and Temple tank (Pushkarini) was built during the reign of Vijayanagara dynasty. It is said that River Pennar originates from this temple tank.

Temple Timings : 7:00 am - 7:30 pm.
Timings might differ on festival days.
Best Time to visit: Nov-May.

This temple was built during the reign of Kakatiya Kings in the 14th Century. This is the only Rama built by Kakatiya's, who are devotees of Lord Siva.

Temple construction took 100 years. Idols were installed on 15Jul 1949 from then on Pujas are performed daily. The temple structure reflects Dravidian architecture. This temple was destroyed by Allauddin Khilji in 1311 AD.
An ardent devotee of Lord Rama, Gajawada Chinnaiah installed the Idols and laid the steps path in 1949. These Idols were brought from Rajasthan.

It is believed that Lord Rama in search of Sita Devi reached this place and stayed here for 45 days. It is believed that Lord Rama met Bala Hanuman here for the very first time.
