Kumbha Mela will be celebrated once in 12 years. A holy dip in  Ganga during Kumbha Mela will relieve the devotee from rebirth cycle.

Har Ki Pauri

One can find the foot impressions of Lord  Vishnu on the rock here. It is called by Braham Kund as Brahma himself named this Kund. Ganga Aarti will be performed daily in the evening hours.

Mansa Devi Temple

This temple is located on top of Bilwa Parvat.  This is one the Sakthi Peeta where Heart of Sati had fallen here. This temple can be reached by Cable Car.

The three Goddess Maha Lakshmi, Parvathi and Saraswathi collectively created a Sakthi and directed her to protect Dharma on this Earth. The Sakthi took birth as a girl child for Ratnakar and his wife, who were ardent devotees of the Goddesses and named the girl as Vaishnavi. As instructed by Rama, Vaishnavi built an Ashram and started meditating until she joins with Lord Vishnu in Kaliyug. MahaYogi Guru Goraksh Nath who came to know about Goddess Vaishnavi existence on the Earth visited the Ashram with his disciples and Bhairon Nath seeking blessings.
Bhairon Nath attracted to the beauty of Vaishnavi, who is carrying bow and arrows and surrounded by apes and lion. Bhairon Nath chased Vaishnavi to marry her. Vaishnavi escaped from him and reached Banganga, Charan Paduka, Adhkwari and finally reached the holy cave. Angered Goddess beheaded Bhairon, whose head fell distant apart. Bhairon realised the reason for his birth and pleaded for the guilty. Pleased Goddess blessed him with a boon that Yatra will be fulfilled after having Darshan of Bhairon. Goddess transformed herself as a rock with 3 hands.

As per the Legend,  At Pukar, the capital of the Chola empire, there are two merchants. Kannaki daughter of one of the Merchant got married to Kovalan son of another merchant. Kovalan attracted to a dancer by name Madhavi. Kovalan rejoined his wife after becoming penniless. Kannaki happily accepted her husband and offered him one of her golden anklets for sale. They moved to Madura, the Pandya to start a new life.
Kovalan entered Goldsmith Street attached to the Royal household. King ordered Staff to executed Kovalan on the false theft case. Kovalan was executed and his body laid in a Madura Street. Angered Kannaki reached the King's court and showed them the second anklet. She accused The King him of Killing her innocent husband.
She broke open her other anklet and lot of precious stones spilled out sparkling. Kannaki went out to the streets, tore off her left breast in fury and cursed the city of Madura which started burning immediately.

Birds reach Kolleru during Oct month and Leave nests in the Apr month. Around 200 bird species make Kolleru as their Home during this time. Majorly Birds from Australia, Siberia, Egypt and Philippines reaches Kolleru for reproduction.
Kolleru Lake Birds: Spot-billed pelicans, Grey Pelicans, Open Bill Storks, Painted Storks, Glossary Ibises, White Ibises, Teals, Pintails, Shovellers, Red-Crested Pochards, Black-winged Stilts, Avocets, Common Redshanks, Winged Stilts, Avocets, Common Redshanks, Pigeons, Gadwalls and Cormorants can be seen here.

Lake Spreads over an area of 673 Sq. kilometers. During the rainy season, the heavy flow from Budameru and Tammileru enters Kolleru Lake. This area was declared as a Wildlife Sanctuary in Nov 1999.
This is the second largest freshwater lakes in India. Lake is located between the deltas of River Godavari and Krishna.

As per the Legend, Sati daughter of Daksha Prajapati married Lord Siva against his wish. Daksha Prajapati thought of taking revenge for which he decided to perform Yajna. He had invited all Devas excluding Lord Siva. Sati who came to know about Yajna reached her paternal home to advise his father. Daksha insulted her daughter Sati before the guests. Angered Sati Self immolated her in Yogagni. Angered Lord Siva ordered Veerbhadra and Kali to destroy Yajna. Siva Ganas along with Veerbhadra and Kali destroyed the Yajna and Killed Daksha. Lord danced the dance of destruction after collecting Sati's corpse. To stop the universal destruction, Lord Vishnu sent his Chakra and destroyed Sati's body. The body parts spread across Indian Subcontinent. And these places are called Sakthi Peeta's. It is believed that Sati's Limb had fallen here.

Konark Sun Temple History
The temple was built during the reign of Raja Narasimhadeva in 13th Century AD. Temple architecture reflects Kalinga construction style.
As per the Legend, Sambudu Manasaputra of Lord Krishna got relieved from Leprosy on taking bath at Chandrabhaga. He also recovered the Sun God Idol from the Chandrabhaga Sarovar. Who installed the Idol of Konark and built the temple. Temple was built during 1257 - 1260 AD.
It is stated in Purushottama Mahatya that Lord Vishnu after killing the Demon Gayasura, left his Conch in Puri, Disc in Bhubaneswar, Mace in Jajpur and Lotus in Konark.

The main temple was built 229 ft above the ground. The Portuguese Navy staff using their authorities removed the Vimana Sikara as they believed that magnetic force from the Vimana Sikara was disrupting the Ships movement. As soon as the Vimana Sikara was removed the Gopuras, pillars balanced on the collapsed to the ground.

From the inscriptions, it is known that this temple was built during the reign of Yayati Kesari in 7th century AD. This temple was later renovated by Kalinga Bhupati during 13th Century AD.
As per the Legend, Siva once said that Bhubaneshwar (Ekamra Tirtha) stands next to Varanasi. Goddess Parvati in the form of a cowherd started grazing the cattle near this Tirtha. Two demons Kriti and  Vasa wanted to marry Parvati. She asked them to carry on their shoulders. She then crushed them to the ground with her power. Lord Siva created Bindu Sagar Saras to fulfil the thirst of Goddess Parvati. He then self-manifested here as Lingaraja. Bindu Sagar Saras Pushkarini was built in the 9th Century. It is believed that taking a holy dip in this Pushkarini will get the similar benefits of Ganga in Varanasi. Water from this Pushkarini will be used for Abhishek.
This is Padal Peeda Kshetra, where offerings will be made for the ancestors. The temple Gopura is of 180 ft height.

This temple is one among the 12 Jyotirlingas across the Indian subcontinent and is 9th among them. As per the legend, the holy city was built at the merging point of Rivers Varuni and Asi with the River Ganga, hence the name Varanasi. It is believed that Lord Siva and Goddess Parvati stayed here for some time.
This temple is of 3000 years old. The present form of the temple was built by the ardent devotee Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar of Indore in 1777. In the year 1839, Maharaja Ranjeet Singh donated gold to cover the two Gopuras of the temple. Ghats were built during the 18th century.
Ganga Aarti will be performed daily similar to Haridwar. It is said that Adi Sankaracharya, Tulasidas, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swamy Vivekananda, Guru Nanak visited this holy shrine.

As per the Legend, Ravana thought of bringing Lor Siva to Lanka for permanent for which he performed strict penance. Impressed Lord Siva, handed Atma Linga as he himself can't come and stay at Lanka. Lord Siva instructed Ravana, not to keep Atma Linga on the Earth. Devas prayed Lord Vishnu to stop Ravana reaching Lanka with the Linga. As the Sun was setting, Ravana found a Brahman Cowherd (Lord Vishnu disguised himself) and hand over the Linga and asked him not to keep on the Earth. After three repeat calls, Vishnu kept the Linga on the Earth. Ravana tried hard to remove the Earth. All his efforts went vain and returned to Lanka with empty hands. This is one the 12 Jyotirlingas across India. It is believed that Lord Rama worshipped Lord Siva during Tretayuga.

This area was declared as the National Park in the year 1978. This park stretches over 777 Sq. Km. This Park is one of the major Tiger Reserves in India. It is estimated that there are 40 tigers currently living in this park.

It is believed that Guru Raghavendra did penance here for Panchamukhi Anjaneya for 12 years. Impressed Lord Anjaneya appeared before Raghavendra Swamy with Panchamukha namely Varaha, Garuda, Narasimha, Hayagreeva and Anjaneya. It is after Lord Anjaneya Darshan that Sri Raghavendra entered Jeeva Samadhi.
It is said that Kolhapur Mahalakshmi, Lord Venkateswara, Lord Vishnu in Kurmavathar offered darshan to Sri Guru Raghavendra.
As per the Legend, during Tretayuga, Anjaneya visited this place while rescuing Rama and Lakshmana from Mahiravana. It is believed that Anjaneya entered the cave near Erukalamba temple to reach Mahiravana. There is a foot impression of Lord Hanuman outside the temple.
Temple will be crowded on special days such as Hanuman Jayanthi, Tuesdays, Sundays, No moon day and Pournami day. The huge rock structures near to the temple were used by Lord Anjaneya as the Bed and Pillow during his stay.

Omkareshwar Temple History
Temple is dedicated to Lord Siva and is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas across India. Temple is located on the Banks of the River Narmada. It is believed that the devotee will be relieved from rebirth cycle on taking a holy dip in Koti Tirtha and having Lord Omkareshwar Darshan. The sanctity of this Kshetra was mentioned in Siva Purana and Skanda Purana. It is believed that Lord Siva blessed Goddess Narmada to stay at his feet always. It is said that Sage Narada praised the holiness of the hill Meru before the Devas. On hearing this the Hill Vindhyachal did penance of Lord Siva and requested the Lord to self-manifest here as Jyotirlinga.
From the inscriptions, it is known that this temple is of 2000 years old and was renovated by the ardent devotee King Mandhata. It is believed that Lord Siva blessed Raja Mandhata at this place.
Gomukh Ghat is located between Vishnu Puri and Brahma Puri and the rivulet joins River Narmada, it is called by Kapila Sangamam.

Mattupetty

Mattupetty Dam is 13 km from Munnar and is at an altitude of 1700 m above the sea level. Mattupetty Dam is a storage concrete gravity Dam built in the mountains, to conserve water for hydroelectricity. Speed boating is available in Kundala lake at Mattupetty Dam. The reservoir is known to be one of the visiting grounds of elephants in the region.

Pothamedu

Pothamedu View Point is 6 km from Munnar town. Tea, coffee and cardamom plantations view is available from here. Pothamedu View Point provides a panoramic view of Munnar town, adjoining valleys and Muthirapuzha River.

Devikulam

The Devikulam Lake is located at an altitude of 1000 mt above the sea level and was called by Sita Devi Lake. This place is 13 km from Munnar town.  As per the Legend, Goddess Sita took bath in this lake during their stay.

As per the legend, While Lord Vishnu performing Seva to the Goddess Lakshmi, Sage Narada compared His doings with the humans. Disturbed Lord Vishnu sent his wife Lakshmi to Pathala Loka. Lord Vishnu came down to the Earth. Lord Siva and Goddess Parvati found the boy crying at their doorstep. Lord Siva and Parvati took the boy inside the home. While going out, Goddess Parvati asked the boy to stay inside the home. The boy then locked the doors from inside and made the stay as his abode. On seeing this, Lord Siva and Goddess Parvati moved to Kedarnath for the stay. Goddess Lakshmi took the form of a Badari tree to protect Lord Vishnu, who was in penance. Hence the name Badarinath, later called by Badrinath as time passes by.
The temple located at an altitude of 3133 mt above the sea level and was built in 8th century AD.
It is believed that Lord Krishna and Arjuna stayed here for some time during Vanavasa period. This is the place where the Hanuman tested Bhima's strength and crushed the ego. It is one of the temples of Chardham.

Two holy rivers Alakananda and Bhagirathi merges at Devprayag town. It is said that Holy River Ganga took birth at this place. This place falls on the way to Rishikesh to Badrinath. Rudra Prayag

As per the Legend, Sage Narada did penance for Lord Siva who appeared before the Sage in Rudra form. Hence the name Rudra Prayag. The holy rivers Alankananda and Mandakini merges here. This place is 140 km from Rishikesh and 70 km from Devprayag. The pathways to Kedarnath and Badrinath splits here at Rudraprayag.

Karna Prayag

It is at the confluence of the River Pandari and River Alankananda. It is said that Karna was cremated here and performed his last rites was performed by Lord Krishna. From here, Alaknanda flows toRudra Prayag. This place is 31 km from Rudraprayag. Karna Prayag, derived from Karna who performed prayers for Sun god at this place.

It is at the confluence of the holy rivers Alakananda and Mandakini. This place is 20 km from Karna Prayag.

Vishnu Prayag

As per the folklore, Sage Narada did penance here for Lord Vishnu. Vishnu temple is located right next to Vishnu Kund. The holy river Vishnu Ganga and Dhauliganga merge here. This place is located at an altitude of 1372 mt above the sea level.

As per the Legend, Pandavas after victory in the battle over Kauravas thought of visiting Varanasi to get rid of the sin of killings their brothers. Lord Siva was not willing to offer Darshan to the Pandavas and took the form of a bull and moved to Guptakashi. On knowing this Pandavas reached Guptakashi seeking blessings from Lord Siva. Lord Siva who was not willing to offer Darshan, tried to enter underground. On seeing this Bhima, tried to hold bull's hump. Lord Siva went underground leaving hump in the hands of Pandava brother. The hump was installed and worshipped at Kedarnath.
Pandavas installed and offered prayers to the hump, which later turned into a rock form. Lord Siva was pleased and offered Darshan to the Pandavas and absolved the Sins. The other shrines near Kedarnath where Lord Siva is worshipped are Tungnath for arms, Rudranath for face, Kalpeshwar for hair, Madmaheshwar for Naval. All these five Shrines, Kedarnath, Tungnath, Rudranath, Kalpeshwar and Madmaheshwar are called as Panch Kedar.

As per the Legend, As per the Instructions from Lord Brahma, King Indradyumna sent 3 Brahmins in search of  Nila Madhava, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Two Brahmins returned the kingdom but last Brahmin, Vidyapati took shelter at Tribal Chieftain, Visvavasu's residency. He eventually married Chieftain's daughter Lalita. Vidyapati was suspicious about Visvavasu's movements. Lalita revealed that her father used to worship Nila Madhava. On Lalita's request, Visvavasu took him to Nila Madhava by tieing his eyes. Vidyapati played a trick by carrying mustard seeds to place it along the path. While Visvavasu went out to collect flowers for the Pooja. A divine voice instructed Vidyapati to let Indradyumna know about his Whereabouts.
King Indradyumna and Vidyapati did not find Nila Madhava who reached the place by tracking Mustard seed plants. A divine voice said that King collected the wood floating on the shores of Puri and thought of carving Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu disguised himself as an old carpenter and approached the King in carving the images of Lord Vishnu with the condition that one should not open doors for 21 days. After 15 days, as there are no traces of Sound inside the temple, Gundica, the queen requested the King to open the doors. When the king opened the door, the unfinished images of  Jagannatha, Balabhadra, Subhadra and Sudarsana were found. No trace of carpenter inside.

The word Nelveli has derived from Puranas that the Lord Siva safeguarded the granary from submerging in the river floods. Lord did fencing around the granary where Paddy was kept for His worship. As per the Legend, an ardent of Lord Siva, A Brahmin, Veda Sanman had spread the paddy on the floor for drying up when the floods came. It was then Lord Siva built the fence around the granary and thus protected the paddy from the river floods; hence the name Tirunelveli.
The deities of Tirunelveli are Nellaiyappar, Venuvananathar, Nelveli Nathar, Salivatisar and Veymutha Nathar. Tiruvilayadal Purana says that the Lord is called Veymuthanathar as he self-manifested himself in Bamboo.
The Goddess is called Kanthimathi Amman and Vadivudai Amman. There is a separate shrine for God and Goddess in the temple complex. The tower of the Amman was built in 1626 AD.
As per the local folklore, the Linga was established by a Muslim chieftain when his wife recovered from the illness after praying the Lord. The Linga is called by Anavarada Nathar. It is also said that the Linga worshipped by Anwar-Udin-Khan came to be known as Anavardanathan as time passes by.

  3. 1948: The Zoological Park came under the control of horticulture department
  4. 1979: The zoo authority transformed to Karnataka State government.
  5. Current Zoo stretches over 80 acres of land.

Mysore Palace History, Timings
This historical palace also called by Amba Palace. Wodeyars who ruled the region from 1399 AD to 1950 AD built this place in 14th century AD. In the year 1610 AD, Wodeyars shifted the capital from Mysore to Srirangapatnam, however, Mysore Palace remained the official residence. A Lightning struck the palace and damaged partially in 1638 AD. The then King Raja Wodeyar II did the repair work.
In 1700 AD Century, When Tippu Sultan got into power, demolished the palace and used the material to construct a fort at Nazarabad. When Tippu Sultan lost the battle to the Britishers in 1799 AD, Britishers destroyed the Tippu's palace at Nazarabad and used the fort material to built the palace at Mysore in 1803 AD and reinitiated Krishnaraja Wodeyar III as the ruler of Mysore.  In 1897, the major portion of the palace got burnt during a wedding ceremony of the Princess Jayalakshmanni. The present form of the Palace was built in 1912 AD by the British architect Henry Irwin and it cost 4.5 Million Rupees during that time. The fort will be lighted with 97000 electric bulbs daily.

In the year 1450 AD, Arcad Nawab's made their commander-in-chief Kakarlapudi Appalaraju as the king for Sarpavaram region for his great services. Appalaraju ruled the region by building a fort at Anakapalli. Appalaraju Installed his family deity Kakatambika to the south of the fort. As the time passes by Kakatambika turned to Nookambika. In the year 1953, AP Endowments undertook the administration.
The crowd will be high during Feb, Mar and Apr months. Annual festival celebrations start on Phalguna Amavasya day and ends on Chaitra Amavasya.

As per the Legend, Mallanna is the incarnation of Lord Siva. Some used to say that Mallanna is Son of Lord and Younger brother to Ellamma. Poojas performed at this temple will be done in Telugu ie No Sanskrit mantras during the Pooja. Temple priest is from Balija Community who runs through the temple activities.
Komaranna from Yadava community did penance here on this hill for Lord Siva, who later installed the Idol. It is believed that Lord Siva in Malegaon Maharashtra self-manifested here as Mallanna. The main deity resides here with His consorts Golla Kethamma and Balijamedala Devi. The main deity is 8 ft in height and is made of clay. 
Temple will be thronged with devotees during Brahmotsavam days which starts on Makara Sankranti. Sivaratri festival will be celebrated in a grand.

Earlier, Keesaragutta was called by Kesaragiri. As per the folklore, Lord Rama thought of installing Siva on top of this hill to get rid of Brahma Hatya (Sin of killing the demon King Ravana, a Brahmin). He instructed Hanuman to bring Siva Linga from Varanasi. As the auspicious time was approaching Sri Rama prayed Lord Siva who self-manifested here in Linga form. Hanuman prayed Lord Siva and brought 101 Siva Linga. Hanuman disappointed on seeing the installed Linga and threw 101 Linga over the hill in disappointment. Even today,  one can see the Linga's spreading across the hill.  Rama named the hill the hill as Kesaragiri after Hanuman. As the time passes by Kesaragiri turned into Keesaragutta. Hanuman after realising his mistake installed one Linga to the left of the main deity.

It is believed that those who are suffering Chicken Pox, Small Pox will be relieved on sprinkling holy water. This Abhishekam Theertham (holy water) will be sprinkled after Pooja.
It is believed that Goddess Sakthi safeguards the devotees who believe her truly. Pushpa Yagotsavam (Flower festival) will be celebrated during the month of Mar. Rathotsavam (Car festival) will be celebrated in Chitirai month.
Angapradakshinam will be performed daily at this temple. It is believed that King Dasaratha worshipped Mariamman at Samayapuram.
Devotees used to reach temple a day in advance and sleep at the temple premises.
The uniqueness of this temple is that Goddess Mariamman will go on fast for 28 days from the last Sunday during Masi month. On these special days, Nivedana will not be performed only fruits and flour will be offered during this time. On the last day, Pushpa Yagotsavam will be performed with a variety of flowers and this festival called by Poo Choridal.

As per the folklore, Goddess Parvati made Siva Linga out of the River Cauvery water and installed under Venn Naaval tree in the Jambu forest. Goddess Parvati performed strict penance and performed strict penance. Impressed Lord Siva appeared before her and did Upadesa (Siva Gnana). The Linga here called by Appu Lingam. Goddess Parvati received the Gyan facing East while Lord Siva offered Gyan facing West. Hence the Temple in Thiruvanaikoil was facing West.
Goddes Parvati here called by Akhilandeswari while Lord Siva by Jambukeshwara. The temple priest performs Pooja for the Lord Siva in a female attire. Thiru Kalyanam will not be performed here as Goddess appeared here in the form of a student while Lord Siva as Guru.

As per the legend, Goddess self-manifested here on Keeladri during Krutya Yuga, where Keela is a Yaksha who did penance for Goddess Durga. Impressed Durga Devi resided on Keela who transformed into a hill near River Krishna. Goddess manifested on Keeladri after killing the demon Mahisasura. It is said that Indra (God of Heaven) did penance here for Goddess Durga. Hence the name, Indra Keeladri.
 Lord Brahma performed Sataswamedha Yajna on Indrakeeladri for which Lord Siva self-manifested here in Jyotirlinga form. Lord Siva here called by Mallikarjuna Swamy. From the Puranas, it is known that Lord Brahma installed Siva Linga and worshipped with Jasmine flowers. Hence the name Mallikarjuna Swamy.
Arjuna, Pandava's brother did penance here for Lord Siva seeking Pasupatha Astra. Jagadguru Adi Sankaracharya installed Sri Chakra in this temple.

Later on request of Lord Siva, he left Brahma and explained the meaning of Om to Lord Siva. To get rid of the sin, Lord Subramanya took the form of a serpent and started residing in an isolated well. The well was guarded by several other serpents to protect Lord from Sun and Rain. The place where Serpent guarded Lord Subramanya is Peralassery.
Goddess Parvati requested Lord Siva to give the original form for her son. Lord Siva advised her to perform Shasti Vrat for 18 weeks which will get the actual form.

Koncheswar Temple

Koncheswar Temple 

The temple is a square building, the dimension of which on the outside is 27 ft 6 inches square with a chamber inside 11 feet square. The entrance is to the East. The height is nearly 70 ft. It has two storeys. The lower storey is vaulter in the Hindu fashion, that is it has two arched roofs meeting in a ridge. The upper storey is formed by bricks overlapping on all the four sides till they meet at a point. The doorway is almost as high as the room inside. Konch served as the model for the Mahabodhi Temple. There is a Linga of Koncheswar Mahadeva inside the temple.
In Hiuen Tsang's description, this temple is stated to have been built by a Brahman. The might have constructed during 1st and 6th Century AD. To the east of the temple, there is a large sheet of water with brick-covered compounds on all sides. In the west, there is a ruined temple, 12 feet 3 inches square inside, and at the north-western corner, there is second ruined temple only 7 ft 8 inches square inside, with walls 2 ft 9.5 inches thick. The temple is daily visited by a large number of local devotees. Special Poojas will be performed on a Shivaratri day and other auspicious days to propitiate Lord Siva when large crowds visit the temple.
